The FCSA and Sustainability Office have compiled pamphlets for each campus containing information about each campus' cycling infrastructure, how to pick up or return a rented bike, tips and tricks, and so much more. You can access them here: Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Rosyth and Leven
What do I do if my bike was stolen?
If your bike is stolen, report the theft to FCSA immediately. If the bike was lost or stolen when not in a locked building/securely locked to a permanent structure using the lock provided, you will be liable for the cost of replacing the bike, up to a maximum of £4200. As stated on the contract form when you hire a bike, you will then have to pay us the outstanding amount within thirty days of any written request for payment issued by us.
If the bike was stolen or lost while in your possession and was kept in a locked building or securely locked to a permanent structure using the lock provided by us at the point of theft, you will not be liable for the cost of replacing the bike.
What happens if my bike breaks?
Report the issue immediately to the FCSA office. We will then coordinate with you to ensure that the bike receives the maintenance it requires so that you can get back on the road as soon as possible.
Can I keep my bike longer than originally planned?
If you want to extend your contract, you will need to email the FCSA so that we can make sure the bike is still available after your current rental contract ends.
How fast can my bike go?
In the UK, e-bikes' motors are legally able to reach a maximum speed of 15.5 mph.
Will my bike be okay if it rains?
Unless you're cycling through a torrential rainstorm, it's highly unlikely that the rain will cause any damage to your bike. As for leaving your bike out in the rain, it is best to be avoided if possible. Exposure to water will inevitably lead to rust, whether an e-bike or a pedal bike. If you're worried about rust while you're renting your bike, you can use a waterproof cover or store your bike inside, away from inclement weather.
